This landmark signaled to the pioneers on the Oregon Trail that they had completed 13 of their westward journey. There is an $8 fee for adults to visit the onsite museum which chronicles the westwar… Full review by Beverly D

You can see this site in an hour or less. It depends on where you live as to whether this is a day trip or not. Scott's Bluff is close by and is very interesting.

Definitely not in the building and there are signs everywhere outside saying to stay on the path due to snakes... So I’d say not pet friendly, since they can’t be inside or on the grass. …

Definitely not in the building and there are signs everywhere outside saying to stay on the path due to snakes... So I’d say not pet friendly, since they can’t be inside or on the grass. It was a nice cool day when we went, we left ours in the car for the short time we were there. If you can’t leave your dog you can definitely just see it from the road or parking lot, if you don’t mind missing the museum and film.

Can you actually go on the rock?

Unfortunately, the path from the Visitor Center to the rock is a dangerous one thanks to rattlesnakes and other hazards. We recommend visitors not make that journey.
